about

So, at the beginning of my conversation with Dallas Hunt, we focus on his cultural background and the languages he speaks. English is his number one language which he also writes in. But Dallas is also a Cree learner, the indigenous language of his grandfathers he likes to write about.
Dallas Hunt also tends to associate his indigenous Cree language with memories and stories in the backcountry, whereas he lives and works in a big urban metropolis, Vancouver, British Columbia. He works there as a teacher now. And that makes him just one of many young professionals of indigenous descent who choose to live in the city because the economic opportunities tend to be located there.
So, I make sure that our conversation is more than just asking questions and getting answers. It is an exchange of stories and experiences going as far as a discussion about dreaming and swearing in any given language.
