Another part of our discussion includes various kinds of sounds and how they make it into Taylor Johnson’s poetry and art. They describe several kinds of soundscapes they're familiar with, including a particular musical style from Washington DC, their hometown, by the name of Go-Go Music.
But Taylor is in Minnesota at the time of our conversation, and the surrounding soundscape is almost opposite to the urban environment of Washington DC. Taylor Johnson speaks fondly of the whistling sounds chipmunks make in the area.
